Why Walk with Mimi?
First off, I would like to introduce myself to you. I am Carmela Maria Concepcion and I reside in the Philippines, a country composed of 7,107 islands which are located in South East Asia. You’re probably curious as to how Mimi came about. My nickname is Mia. However, while growing up, my friends managed to coin several derivatives of my name such as Carmeme, Carmimi, Caramel, Miapot, Miatot, Mimikienz, Mims, Mi, Mimi, and many more – whatever they end up blurting out. And since I would enjoy the pleasure of you company in my journey, I would like to invite you to walk with me (mi).
Mimi is a real person. I am she! And I am the youngest of two children – as far as I know (Kidding! Hahaha.) I have an older brother, Enzo, who is very supportive of all my endeavors. He’s simply the best! I have three dogs, Pucci, Pucca and Caramela. Our parents passed away a couple of years back. So it’s really just me, my brother and our dogs against the world. Hahaha. I’m a very energetic and happy person. I love to spread joy and laughter to the people around me. I’m also very sporty and adventurous so you can expect me doing some exciting stuff during my travels.
Today was Made to be Explored.
Growing up with parents who enjoyed going on domestic and foreign travel for work or leisure, I’ve developed a passion for it too, be it a weekend getaway to one of our neighboring countries in Asia, a 12 hour flight across the globe, or even something as simple as a road trip to the nearest beach. It’s been a family practice of ours to go to the beach every summer for a 4 day getaway ever since I was 3 years old. At 7 years old (Way back in 1995), I had my first plane ride. My family went to one of the pristine beaches in the country, Boracay. The following year, my brother and I experienced our first out of the country trip when we headed to Hong Kong. When I reached 12, I created a motto for myself which is “Today was made to be explored.” My motto was further strengthened after our parents passing. There’s always so much to see and so many things to do. Who knows if we’ll still be here tomorrow. So I thought to myself, “If we don’t start today, life might just pass us by. “
My Pockets are Not Bottomless.
As much as I’d like to be travelling all the time, I need to work. So to manage your expectations, you can probably expect me to blog about once a month. I could be writing about my most recent travel or a travel I had a few months back. Also, I will be sharing budget friendly ideas so you can enjoy just as much but with less damage to your allowance.
So Where Has Mimi Walked?
I’ve been to 9 countries – Singapore, Malaysia, Cambodia, Hong Kong, Japan, Australia, USA, France and Italy. I’m still looking forward to exploring more countries and learn more cultures. But apart from my foreign travel, I have been exploring different parts of the Philippines – a couple of islands among the 7,107. Some of these islands are Boracay, El Nido, Camiguin, Gigantes Island, Davao, Cagayan De Oro, Bacolod, Bukidnon, Cebu, Bohol, etc. Though I like to travel abroad, I also enjoy exploring my country as it offers some of the most beautiful beaches. Being a cancerian (One of the water elements in the zodiac sign), I just love beaches. And, I hope you do too so that you’ll better enjoy what I’ve got in store for you!
